za vyhlášení otevřeného výběrového řízení na pozici ředitele/ředitelky Muzea romské kultury v Brně

My, níže podepsaní občané – zástupci romské komunity, neromské veřejnosti, paměťových institucí a občanské společnosti, se obracíme na Ministerstvo kultury ČR s výzvou k vyhlášení řádného, transparentního a otevřeného výběrového řízení na pozici ředitele/ředitelky Muzea romské kultury v Brně.

Muzeum romské kultury není běžnou paměťovou institucí. Vzniklo z autentického úsilí, odvahy a dlouhodobé iniciativy samotných Romů, romských osobností a intelektuálů, kteří navzdory nepřízni doby bojovali za zachování své historie, jazyka a kulturního dědictví a za důstojné připomínání obětí romského holokaustu. Tento historický kořen zavazuje a musí být plně respektován i v současné správě instituce.

Vzhledem k významu a poslání muzea považujeme za zásadní, aby:

• Byl respektován historický odkaz zakladatelů: Vedení instituce, která vzešla z romského hnutí a občanské emancipace, musí udržovat úzké a živé pouto s romskou komunitou, naslouchat jejím potřebám a vnímat ji jako rovnocenného partnera, nikoli pouze jako pasivní objekt výzkumu.
• Byl dán hlas romským osobnostem i nezávislým odborníkům: Výběrové řízení musí proběhnout za účasti transparentně sestavené komise, v níž budou vedle muzejních a akademických kapacit zastoupeni také respektovaní představitelé romské komunity a občanského sektoru.
• Proběhla otevřená soutěž koncepcí a vizí: Pravidelná obhajoba vedoucích funkcí prostřednictvím otevřené soutěže je standardem moderních kulturních institucí. Umožní formulovat novou dynamickou vizi pro práci s pamětí, vzdělávání mladé generace a rozvoj moderního komunitního muzejnictví 21. století.

Cílem této výzvy není znevažovat práci odvedenou v uplynulých letech, ale zajistit novou legitimitu, transparentnost a obnovení důvěry mezi zřizovatelem, institucí a širokou veřejností – romskou i neromskou.

Žádáme proto Ministerstvo kultury ČR, jakožto zřizovatele Muzea romské kultury, aby v co nejkratším termínu vyhlásilo otevřené výběrové řízení na funkci ředitele/ředitelky a při jeho přípravě plně zohlednilo výše uvedené principy.

calling for the announcement of an open selection procedure for the position of Director of the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno

We, the undersigned citizens—representatives of the Romani community, the non-Romani public, memory institutions, and civil society—call upon the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic to announce a proper, transparent, and open selection procedure for the position of Director of the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno.

The Museum of Romani Culture is no ordinary memory institution. It was established through the authentic effort, courage, and long-term initiative of Romani people themselves, Romani public figures, and intellectuals who, despite adverse times, fought to preserve their history, language, and cultural heritage, and to ensure a dignified commemoration of the victims of the Romani Holocaust. This historical foundation constitutes an obligation that must be fully respected in the current administration of the institution.

Given the museum's significance and purpose, we consider it essential that:

·         he historical legacy of the founders is respected: The leadership of an institution born from the Romani movement and civic emancipation must maintain a close, active bond with the Romani community, listen to its needs, and perceive it as an equal partner, not merely as a passive object of research.

·         A voice is given to Romani figures and independent experts: The selection procedure must be conducted with a transparently appointed committee that includes respected representatives of the Romani community and the civic sector, alongside museum and academic authorities.

·         An open competition of concepts and visions takes place: Regular defence of leadership roles through open competition is a standard among modern cultural institutions. It allows formulation of a new, dynamic vision for memory work, educating the younger generation, and developing modern, 21st-century community museology.

The aim of this appeal is not to diminish the work accomplished in past years, but to ensure renewed legitimacy, transparency, and the restoration of trust between the establishing authority, the institution, and the general public—both Romani and non-Romani.

We therefore urge the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, as the establishing authority of the Museum of Romani Culture, to announce an open selection procedure for the post of Director as soon as possible and to fully acknowledge the above-mentioned principles in its preparation.
